Cancellation Policy for Orders of Printed Books and Other Physical Goods

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal. A consumer is any natural person who enters into a legal transaction for purposes that are predominantly outside their trade, business, or profession (Section 13 of the German Civil Code – BGB).

Right of Withdrawal

You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason.

The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the day on which you, or a third party designated by you (other than the carrier), took possession of the last item of goods.

In addition to the methods described above, you may also exercise your right of withdrawal by using the electronic withdrawal function (“withdrawal button”) provided on our website. After submitting your withdrawal declaration through this function, you will promptly receive confirmation by email that we have received your withdrawal. Use of the electronic withdrawal function is voluntary and does not affect any other legally permitted means of exercising your right of withdrawal.

To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your notice of exercising the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period expires.

Effects of Withdrawal

If you withdraw from this contract, we shall reimburse all payments received from you, including delivery costs (except for any additional costs resulting from your choosing a type of delivery other than the least expensive standard delivery offered by us), without undue delay and no later than fourteen days from the day on which we receive your notice of withdrawal.

We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction unless expressly agreed otherwise with you. In no event will you incur any fees as a result of this reimbursement.

We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the returned goods or until you have supplied evidence that you have returned the goods, whichever occurs first.

You must send back or hand over the goods to us without undue delay and, in any event, no later than fourteen days from the day on which you informed us of your withdrawal from this contract. The deadline is met if you send the goods before the fourteen-day period has expired.

You are responsible for the direct costs of returning the goods.

You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods if this loss in value results from handling the goods in a way that was not necessary to examine their nature, characteristics, and functioning.

Exclusion or Early Expiry of the Right of Withdrawal

The right of withdrawal does not apply to the supply of sealed audio or video recordings (e.g., CDs, music or video cassettes) or sealed computer software if the seal has been removed after delivery.

The right of withdrawal also does not apply to goods that are not prefabricated and are manufactured based on an individual selection or specification by the consumer or are clearly tailored to the consumer’s personal needs.

Furthermore, the right of withdrawal does not apply to contracts for the supply of newspapers, periodicals, or magazines, except for subscription contracts.

Special Notice on the Expiry of the Right of Withdrawal for Digital Content

The right of withdrawal expires in the case of contracts for the supply of digital content not supplied on a tangible medium (in particular eBooks) if we have begun performing the contract after you have expressly agreed that we may begin performance before the withdrawal period expires and you have acknowledged that, by giving your consent, you lose your right of withdrawal once performance of the contract begins.

Performance of the contract is deemed to begin in particular when the eBook is made available for download or when access to the digital content is activated.
